The Mod5 system is designed to be the perfect solution for temporary to semipermanent structural needs. A Mod5 building is more versatile, customizable, and sustainable than typical modular structures. Mod5 buildings utilize a system of three-foot-wide, preassembled panels. All that is required for setup is to bolt a few of these panels together, stand them up, and bolt them into your foundation-without having to preset anchor bolts into your foundation. Mod5 buildings can be modified, expanded, or disassembled and relocated easily, offering the potential to save money, time, and environmental resources. Mod5 buildings can also be built directly on typical modular building frames for absolute maneuverability and ease of installation.
MSS offers other modular products, including new and used trailers, guard houses, forklift-able modules, interior enclosures, and mezzanines, to suit the scale of your project and your specific needs. (click here for more information)

Mod5
vs. Trailers
For over 50 years, trailers have been the leading solution in modular construction. Trailers have proven to have several advantages over traditional "stick-built" structures in that they are fast, affordable, and easily moved. However, for many applications, including larger complexes, structures that need aesthetic value, and buildings that are not necessarily temporary, trailer construction is not ideal. Mod5 buildings can even be built on typical modular building frames to offer the customer a quality alternative without compromising maneuverability or speed of erection.

Mod5
vs. Conventional Pre-engineered Steel Buildings:
In recent years, conventional
pre-engineered steel buildings have increased in popularity due to
the need for modern warehouse complexes and other
large-square-foot buildings. These buildings, although they are
necessary in some niche markets, have many disadvantages compared
to the Mod5 system, including:
 |
Construction time -
The typical conventional pre-engineered steel building takes
months to erect, sometimes as long as a
"stick-built" building would take. The Mod5 system
typically takes between 1 and 10 weeks to construct.
Ease of Assembly -
Conventional pre-engineered steel buildings require
significantly more labor cost, expertise, and expensive
equipment time to set them up. They typically have many
different parts that are difficult to keep organized. Mod5
panels are easily interchanged and quite easy to put
together. |
Modifiability -
Most conventional pre-engineered steel buildings are not designed
to be moved, added on to, or taken down for any reason. They are
typically permanent structures, and demolition is costly.
Furthermore, the interior partitions for offices and rooms are
usually fixed, wooden structures and are not designed to be moved
as space needs fluctuate. Mod5 buildings, on the other hand, can
be easily moved and modified, in both the interior and exterior.
They are capable of being easily dismantled, repackaged, and
transported using standard highway vehicles without special load
permits, and they can easily reassembled at a new erection site.
Foundation
-
On top of the extra cost for assembly, most conventional
pre-engineered steel buildings require a lot of work and concrete
for their foundations. Mod5 buildings require only a concrete
slab.
Zoning and permits -
Because the Mod5 system is completely modular, some zoning
restrictions and permit requirements do not apply as they would to
a permanent pre-engineered steel structure. Contact your local
planning board for more information.
Options -
There are several application-specific engineering options that
simply cannot be applied using conventional pre-engineered steel
buildings. (click
